In a step towards promoting collaboration and excellence in the construction sector, the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) partnered with the National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) on their inaugural Construction Day. The event, presided over by President Lazarus Chakwera, brought together key stakeholders from the construction and other related industries.

As the energy regulator, MERA recognizes the critical role energy plays in the construction industry. From powering machinery to illuminating work sites. MERA’s partnership with NCIC underscores the importance of collaboration between the energy and construction sectors.

The authority certifies installers who are responsible for electrical installations in construction areas, ensuring that they meet the required standards and safety protocols. This certification process is crucial in preventing electrical accidents and ensuring the safety of buildings and occupants.

During the Construction Day celebrations, MERA took the opportunity to sensitize players in the construction industry on the importance of using certified electrical installers. The authority emphasized that hiring certified installers not only ensures compliance with regulatory requirements but also guarantees the safety and quality of electrical installations.
