The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) recently hosted 97 Form 4 students from St John’s Secondary School, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the Authority’s regulatory role in the energy sector.

The students toured the MERA office complex, engaging with specialists from various departments and gaining insights into the legal framework and structure of the organization. Through presentations, they learned about MERA’s mandate on liquid fuels and gas regulation, electricity regulation, licensing, performance monitoring, and pricing roles.

The visit not only educated the students about the energy sector but also exposed them to potential career opportunities within MERA. Interacting with specialists from different departments, the learners gained a deeper understanding of the various professions that contribute to the Authority’s mission.

Chikondi Ntholora, one of the students, described the tour as a gateway to various aspects of growth as they prepare for tertiary education. His sentiment echoed the enthusiasm and curiosity displayed by the students throughout the visit.
