The following Acts form the Energy Laws and provide the legal framework for the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority:
The Energy Regulation Act 2004;
The Rural Electrification Act 2004;
The Electricity Act 2004; and
The Liquid Fuels and Gas (Production and Supply) Act 2004.

All energy sectors are covered including electricity, liquid fuels, gas and solid fossil fuels

Fossil fuels include Coal, Peat and/or Uranium
