WHO WE ARE
Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) is a corporate body established under the Energy Regulatory Act No. 20 of 2004 as the Energy Sector Wide Regulator. Our mandate is to regulate the energy sector in Malawi in a fair, transparent, efficient and cost effective manner for the benefit of the consumers and operators. We are located in 2nd floor of Development House in City Centre, Lilongwe, Malawi. MERA operates in accordance to the following Energy Laws:
- The Energy Regulation Act 2004;
- The Electricity Act 2004;
- The Rural Electrification Act 2004; and
- The Liquid Fuels and Gas (Production and Supply) Act 2004.
