The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has partnered with the Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TEVETA) to enhance skills development in the energy sector, particularly in the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) industry.

At this year’s TEVETA National Conference, MERA’s Director of Liquid Fuels and Gas, Tikhala Kathewera, presented on the MERA-TEVETA collaboration on the domestic LPG installers training program.

“The partnership between MERA and TEVETA is crucial in enhancing skills development in the energy sector,” said Kathewera. “We are committed to ensuring that Malawians have access to safe, reliable, and efficient energy services.”

The conference brought together stakeholders from the energy sector, education and training institutions, and government agencies to discuss ways to enhance skills development and promote economic transformation in Malawi.

TEVETA’s spokesperson Carol Magreta, commended MERA for its commitment to skills development in the energy sector. “We believe that partnerships like this one will help us achieve our goal of enhancing skills development for economic transformation,” she said.

The MERA-TEVETA partnership is expected to contribute to the achievement of Malawi’s development goals, particularly in the energy sector, and promote economic transformation towards Malawi 2063.
