The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has welcomed an initiative by the Malawi and Zambia Police services to strengthen cross-border security.

Malawi Police Service, Interpol National Central Bureau Officer-In-Charge Hananiah Mbingwa emphasized the importance of regular interactions with Zambian counterparts to enhance security.

The Zambian Police Commissioner for Eastern Region Province, Robertson Mweemba, echoed this sentiment, stressing the need for periodic information sharing to ensure optimal security.

The initiative brought together key stakeholders, including MERA, Malawi Police, and Zambian authorities, to share notes on curbing illegal trading practices and promoting regional security. (Chipata, Zambia)
