The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) wishes to advise Liquid Fuels and Gas licensees (LFG) that all Liquid Fuels and Gas licences and certificates for the year 2023/2024 will expire on 31 March 2024.

The renewal fees are as follows:

 Licensees are reminded of the requirement to submit valid documents for issuance of a renewed licence. The documents include:

  1. Pump calibration certificate from Malawi Bureau of Standards;
  2. Workplace Registration Certificate issued by the Ministry of Labour;
  3. Vehicle certificates and insurance (Transportation licences);
  4. Proof of access to licensed storage facility (Importation and Wholesale licences);
  5. Proof of payment of licence fees; and
  6. Tax Clearance Certificate issued by the Malawi Revenue Authority.

Licensees are further reminded that it is against the law to operate in the LFG sector without a valid licence. Operating without a valid licence is an offence whose punishment upon conviction is a fine of K50 million and imprisonment for ten years in line with the Liquid Fuels and Gas (Production and Supply) Act and its subsidiary legislations.
