MERA/EU Launch an Art Project to Illuminate a Sustainable Energy Future
The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) in partnership with the European Union (EU) under the Twinning Project have launched two Art Competitions at the MERA Complex in Lilongwe, aimed at engaging youth in discussions about sustainable energy. In his remarks, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for MERA, Henry Kachaje highlighted the project’s role in communicating vital energy issues to the younger generation.
For his part, EU Resident Twinning Advisor Antonio Cassina described this as an opportunity for young Malawians to display their artistic talents while raising awareness on energy challenges.
Representing Ministry of Youth, Principal Secretary, responsible for Administration Jean Munyenyembe, applauded MERA’s initiative and called for further expansion, noting the power of art in communicating complex topics like energy access and environmental stewardship.
Targeting primary and secondary school students, as well as emerging artists, this competition encourages creativity in addressing Malawi’s energy future.
