The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) would like to inform the general public that the current combined fuel stock levels of all active importers are sufficient to meet the country’s demand for the foreseeable future.

MERA would further like to inform the nation that the fuels sector makes very effort to ensure that fuel sold at Service Stations is safe to use. As such, Service Stations suspected to have contaminated fuel following the impact of Cyclone Freddy have suspended fuel sales until tests and corrective measures are undertaken. However, many fuel service stations have not been affected and are operational.

MERA will continue to update the public on the fuel issues whenever necessary.

To register complaints where the consumer is dissatisfied with a Service Station’s action, please call 0992558564 or email mera@mera.mw
