On 5th April 2022 the Minister of Energy Honourable Ibrahim Matola inspected some fuel retail outlets in Lilongwe.

The visit to Total Independence Drive, Petroda Area 47 and Crossroads Puma fuel retail outlets confirmed details of fuel volumes that the retail outlets had submitted to MERA. This provides assurance to consumers that there is robust coordination in the fuels sector.

The Minister was accompained by the MERA Board Chairperson, MERA Chief Executive Officer, National Oil Company of Malawi Deputy Chief Executive Officer and MERA Director of Liquid Fuels and Gas.

MERA conducts routine and adhoc inspections in the fuels and gas supply chain to ensure licencee compliance with licencing conditions and check stock availability.
