MERA PROMOTES LPG AT WORLD HABITAT DAY COMMEMORATION
On 7 October, the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority participated in this year’s World Habitat Day commemoration held under the theme ‘Youths for a Better Urban Future.’ The event took place at Chilimamphunga ground in Mtandire, Lilongwe.
MERA used the platform to inform the youth and other participants about alternative cleaner cooking energy such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and biogas.
In his remarks, Habitat for Humanity, Malawi’s National Director, Victor Chambayika Mhango, emphasized the need to protect the environment by adopting the use of eco-friendly technologies that facilitate a sustainable environment and enhance access to safe, affordable, and decent housing.

In a demonstration of their commitment to a better urban future, the youth of Mtandire joined the Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Lands, Lilongwe City Council, Waste Advisers, CCODE, Green Villages, and others in cleaning the drainage system in one of the informal settlements in the country.
