MERA Supports Students with Special Needs
Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has committed to provide school fees and upkeep allowances for three students with disabilities.
Two of the students, Tito Mtima and Mistry Hasting of St. Patricks and Mzimba Secondary school respectively, are in form one. The third student Chisomo John is in form two at Mlanda Girls Secondary School. MERA will support the three students up to completion of their secondary school education.
Speaking to MERA representatives who visited Mzimba Secondary School, Mistry Hastings said ‘the sponsorship is not only a motivation to work hard but also a relief to my parents who struggle to raise school fees and fend for the family’.
The three students were identified through Hope for the Blind a non-governmental organization that supports visually impaired and blind students.
